Here are the calculations of how much of the earth is taken up by different habitats:

  • 71% of the world is taken up by sea and only 29% is land.
  • Of the 29% of land 19.5% is desert.
  • 17% is tropical forest.
  • 11% is polar ice.
  • 10% is the Savanna.
  • 9.5% is cultivated land.
  • 8.5% is Boreal forest.
  • 7% is temperate forest.
  • 6% is temperate grassland.
  • 6% is the Mediterranean.
  • 5.5% is the Tundra.

Fact of the day: Babies can breath and swallow at the same time until they are 6 months old.
